Simian Scope

**A real-time audio analyzer that looks like a rebel-ship console from The Matrix.**

Every FFT and scope app on the store looks like it was drawn with a fat crayon on construction paper. Simian Scope is the antidote: GPU-rendered neon glow, phosphor persistence, CRT scanlines, and falling Matrix rain, with almost no settings to get in your way. Point it at your mic, and watch sound become light.

It is bare-native (no Java, no bloat): NativeActivity and C, AAudio low-latency capture, and an OpenGL ES 3.0 renderer that draws glowing vector traces with real afterglow trails. The whole app is about 75 KB.

## Four views (tap to cycle, long-press to freeze)

- **SPECTRUM** : log-frequency glowing bars with falling amber peak-hold caps, a live peak-frequency lock line, and a note readout (Hz to note + cents, great for tuning).

- **OSCILLOSCOPE** : zero-cross-triggered waveform with phosphor trails and auto-gain. Amber trace that flares green on the loud parts.

- **WATERFALL** : a scrolling spectrogram in green to amber to white. Watch the last few seconds of sound roll by.

- **VECTOR** : a real goniometer and phase-correlation meter for true stereo, or a hypnotic expanding Lissajous burst for mono sources.

Always-on dB / RMS level metering in every view. Every trace sits in a clean dark halo cut out of the rain.

## Good for

Tuning instruments, checking a room or PA, eyeballing a mix, teaching what sound looks like, or just leaving it running as living wallpaper while music plays.

## Install (Android)

1. Download `SimianScope.apk`.

2. On your phone, allow installing from your browser or file manager (unknown sources).

3. Open it and grant microphone access (it needs the mic to see sound, and nothing else).

Runs on Android 8.0 and up, landscape, arm64 and armv7. No ads, no tracking, no network access at all.
